Challenge
The success of recent years has led to rapid growth, making new structures and processes necessary. The main objective was to minimise the finance team workload, led by CFO Alex Tillack, optimise financial planning and improve processes. The primary goal was to develop a finance system that could provide department managers with decentralised access. This would enable them to obtain a better overview of their figures and create financial forecasts. Therefore, the introduction of controlling reports, financial forecasts and liquidity scenarios was necessary.
Implementation
NumberSquare has been supporting Impact Hub Berlin for the past 3.5 years. We introduced an integrated financial planning system and created a comprehensive access management system to ensure the smooth operation of financial tools. To establish efficient financial management, we set up controlling and reporting processes, as well as a consolidation system of financial data for FP&A and BI analyses. During the CFO's sabbatical, NumberSquare acted as interim CFO managing the team, coordinating the annual budget planning and introducing liquidity and management processes. We also focused on change management to sensitise non-finance employees to financial topics.
Success
By working with NumberSquare, Impact Hub Berlin was able to gain a much clearer picture of its financial situation. The enhanced liquidity planning enabled the organisation to allocate financial resources more efficiently. Additionally, P&L forecasting aided in making more informed strategic decisions for expansion into new and existing business areas. As a sparring partner for the CFO and management, we provided assistance in making strategic decisions and guiding the company towards further growth.
